how where we to know - original 3/07
Remember when you were young and being young was such a drag, and you thought once you could drive your life would begin? Then remember when your mother told you that you wouldn't always love to drive and you think about that in retrospect and realize that remark is directly linked to your entire existence. But, you don't resent your mother for saying it cause, now, you are actually kind of glad about how gently honest she can be; and almost wish you had the same subtlety. Except, there is no way you can be subtle when you always think the ceiling is about to fall onto you and you can't imagine being the kind of person whose life worked it's way into chaos. But, it isn't really chaos, you just think it is because you didn't get the subtle gene and you are beginning to wonder whose genes you actually got. And, it scares you because there is no way of connecting your blood line far back enough to even come close to the type of explanation it would take for you to feel OK, for you to feel at peace with that fact you wished your childhood away for six cylinders and a false sense of freedom.
